Burden in a Miracle

Two days before my first birthday, in the middle of the night, I succumbed to cardiac arrest. My mom, an extremely well-trained lifeguard and swim coach, went into lifeguard-mode and performed CPR on me until the ambulance arrived, and took me to the hospital. The local hospital was ill-equipped to deal with me. They […]

And What’s Next?! 2

Fairytale Mental Penitentiary       I initially wrote this for one of my creative writing classes. The assignment was to take a fairytale and add a new element. Coming up with an idea that didn’t feel like it’s been done before was a struggle. Red Riding Hood was already in the works of being […]

The Fairytale Mental Penitentiary

“I’m not a stalker. Philip and I were in love! I saved him a from drowning, and I just knew we’d be together forever. He just had to hear me sing.” A girl with fading teal and lavender hair and doll-like amethyst eyes said, fluttering her eyelashes. I’ve been working on so many projects, and that inability to go running to my grandma and present her with my work and my progress is impacting me. Moreso, between the grief and fighting seasonal depression again, I want to just do my grandma the honor of making my first post about her and the gifts she gave me. I want to make this my first reminder. Taking care of me is the best way to remember her.

Letter from My Kidney

Hey girl, it’s me! Your kidney! I know you didn’t forget about me. I don’t know what you’ve been doing, but you need to get it together. My old home, the one you call Grandma? She gave me up to keep you alive. Now, you need to return the favor. I. HAVE. GOALS. NOW. I want to be the longest living kidney ever! Just imagine it! I would be historical, immortal even. I will be the most amazing kidney in the world. For me to accomplish my goals, you need to get your life together. I like you; I love you. But I’ll kill if you mess this up for me. Sit down, let’s talk.
