Before: A Tree of Trauma & Its Abundant Fruit
Release Date: Sept. 20, 2025
Category: Nonfiction
This piece is incredibly graphic and personal for me. It’s about my abusive ex-stepfather and the trauma that his seeds planted. Most of the first portion focuses on Bill’s constant fanning of innocence when he’s accused of behaving inappropriately, and how incredibly manipulative he was. The midpoint focuses on me, the instances where that trauma grew and how those moments changed me as a person. There is a scene I felt conflicted about publishing: the murder nightmares. Before Bill, I never saw myself as capable of hating someone so much that I wanted to kill that person, even on a subconscious level. I knew I had to include the nightmares in my piece because I think it’s important to acknowledge how deep the pain went, and crawling out of that resentment. I’ve mentioned this in other writing, but I got into psychology to better understand the people surrounding me, and to better understand myself. I think the Tree of Trauma is a visual of both negative and positive growth, and its abundant fruit is what you can do with that growth.
What’s Next: Fyrrea & the Stars
Release Date: Feb. 2, 2026
Category: Fiction
Fyrrea is the fire god, among other things. The ancient story goes Fyrrea has fallen in love with a mortal woman, Esha. Fyrrea is the god of passion, love and war merely two sides of the same coin, and when Fyrrea wishes her with child, the other gods, Ayrii, Waequa and Terraii sense an unknown danger. Despite this, they can do little to change Fyrrea’s stubborn mind. Terraii foretells a child, for he is the god of earth, growth and time, and Fyrrea’s ecstatic. But pray tell, what does Esha think of this potential life? Who does she trust, and should she trust them? With no stars in the night sky to guide their way, maybe the gods aren’t as powerful as they seem.
I’m squealing with excitement! This piece is part of a religious text coming from the world I’ve been working on for over a decade. As I continue to develop both my novel and the mythology behind it, I’ll be able to offer slightly more frequent content. I’ve been enjoying this mythology and the world beneath it, and I hope you do too.
